FAQs

Who are these programs for?

Our programs are designed for students in Years 10–12 and their parents who want to understand how recruitment works and what they can do be successful in securing the job of their choice when they complete their studies.

What makes Fledgling Careers different?

We bring real employer insight into the conversation. Our sessions are delivered by experienced graduate recruitment professionals who have hired thousands of graduates and understand what employers are actually looking for when making hiring decisions.

Our advice isn't about exposure to different jobs or choosing the job you want to pursue - it's about how to set yourself up to be the best candidate you can be, regardless of career choice.

Does my child need to know what career they want to pursue?

Not at all. We recognise that many of the jobs of the future don't even exist yet! These sessions are designed to help students understand the skills, experiences and behaviours that will help them succeed, regardless of the career path they choose.

Is this only for high-achieving students?

Not at all. Employability is about much more than academic results. Our sessions help all students understand their strengths, identify opportunities to grow and learn how to demonstrate the skills employers value.

What age is best to attend?

We recommend students attend from Year 10 onwards, as this gives them time to build experiences, skills and confidence before they apply for university, internships or graduate opportunities.

How is the Employability Check-Up different from the seminar?

The Employable You Seminar is a group session that provides students and parents with the foundations of employability and an understanding of what employers look for. The Employability Check-Up is a personalised 1:1 session where we assess an individual student's strengths, gaps and create a tailored action plan.

What can students ask about during 1:1 Career Coaching?

Anything career-related. Students can bring questions about choosing subjects, gaining experience, building their resume, preparing for applications, interviews, networking, career direction or anything else they are unsure about.

Do you guarantee students will get a job?

No. Just like a coach cannot guarantee an athlete will win a competition, we cannot guarantee a specific job outcome. What we can do is give students the insights, skills and confidence they need to prepare well, make better decisions and maximise their opportunities.

Can parents attend the 1:1 sessions?

Yes. We value parents who want to understand how employers are hiring today and how trends like AI are shaping the future of work. This insight makes it easier to support your teenager, encourage action and help them make confident decisions about their future.

Our aim is also to build your teen’s confidence and capability so they can succeed independently. Ultimately, attendance is a decision between you and your teenager. If they are comfortable with you joining, we are happy to have you involved.

Where are sessions delivered?

Our group seminars are delivered in person at multiple locations around Sydney as well as virtually. Our 1:1 sessions are delivered virtually.
